Thank you for your interest in my counseling practice. I have over 20 years of experience providing counseling and coaching support to people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal and family conflicts job-related stress, parenting problems, and the impact of chronic illness, trauma, and life transitions on their daily lives. I also specialize in working with clients experiencing the stressors involved in living with a disabling condition and/or those providing care giving for them.
I use evidence-based treatment that includes a family systems, attachment, and insight-oriented approach along with therapeutic coaching to explore how past experiences and learned patterns of coping may be impacting current thoughts and feelings which keep you from making needed changes and moving forward in your life. I use an eclectic mix of therapy techniques including mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy and distress tolerance skill building techniques to help you self-regulate emotions that can feel overwhelming and make it hard to problem-solve or develop and meet goals. I use my background in health and wellness coaching to help clients learn stress-reduction skills and take action to make the changes needed to live a healthier, higher quality of life.
I also work with clients in learning to identify and appropriately express feelings to improve communication with family members, friends, co-workers or other professionals, which is so important to resolving conflicts, creating healthy, positive relationships and a network of social support, which is crucial to making long-term, lasting changes beyond the therapeutic relationship.
I provide a safe, nurturing environment for you to explore your current concerns. I'll do an assessment of clinical symptoms which includes having you provide some health and family history to help me know you and your situation better and together we will develop a treatment plan that is based on your values and goals for developing a better quality of life through reducing unwanted symptoms and/or developing healthy relationships and a better support network.
